The Pro-tector is holding up very well, I can vouch for the durability and strength of the strap. When I got to the airport in Delhi I went straight to Paharganj by taxi, I was on my own and it was dark and I didn't want to hang around so I got a taxi. I was dropped off right outside the train station and then had to walk to Smyle Inn. My pack was still in the Pro-tector as I hadn't had time to take it out and so I had to do that walk with my rucksack in the Pro-tector carrying it by the strap. It was inconvenient and bulky to be carrying it any sort of distance like that, but I was surprised at how strong the strap seemed to be on the Pro-tector. I am really pleased with it anyway, it's essential for flights

Having just returned from 3 months travelling and working in Nepal I
am very glad that we bought two Pro-Tector’s before leaving the UK.
Local busses, rickshaws, taxis and airlines did what they could to
destroy our bags but the Pro-Tector’s lived up to their name!

Just to let you know the Pro-tector seems to be holding well with my son still on his travels, he says it has lost one of the eyelets but the rest of the bag is okay. It has been through some rugged testing starting off in Bangkok, Cambodia, travelling the length of Vietnam, Thailand, Koh Phi Phi Islands, Singapore, Malaysia, Borneo, Bali, Gili Islands and it has now just reached Australia!

I know it's a long time ago that we bought your Rucksack Protectors and I think I previous promised to send you any photos we had of using them. It's taken me until now to get them sorted.I can only say that we have used them for 2 x 4 week travelling holidays and a few smaller ones and they really are fantastic. The key thing is that they keep all the straps and buckles out of the way, but they also stop baggage handlers from picking up our rucksacks using the wrong 'handles' / flaps. I'm sure they also deter/stop people from opening any side pockets and not only that, on our way home last time, I even packed my sandals and shorts in the bag under a rucksack strap without having to fit them in my rucksack at the last minute.

2009 we went to Malaysia - LHR to KL then to Tiamon Island back to KL, on to Kuching, then KK and Sandakan, back to Kota Kinabalu. Home via KL (that was 9 flights in total)

2010 - Cambodia and Laos - LHR to Singapore, on to Siem Reap then to Luang Prabang, from Vientiane to Phom Penh, from Siem reap back to Singapore and then home (6 flights)

They've proven to be very sturdy covers- we have packs that typically weight about 14 - 18 Kg each. We've had compliments about them (so we mentioned your name!). All in all we can't fault them and I'd not want to travel without one again!

Hi Rob,

We got the bags yesterday. It took longer then expected but no worries. They are great! My pack is an Osprey 50L and it will fit just fine fully loaded. What is so great about the Pro-Tector is that the duffle style closure really allows for over or under stuffing but still allows a balanced grip. I'll be sure to take some pictures prior to our trip to add to the gallery.

The wallet it very nice with great craftsmanship. Thanks for such great service. I will tell everyone I know that you are the best and so is your product!

Just got back from a trip to Nepal and thought I'd let you know that
the pro-tector performed magnificently! Firstly I'd like to thank-you
for your prompt delivery (I had left it only a week before I was about
to fly!). Had ordered a large Pro-tector for only a 40-50L rucksac,
but there was plenty of space for 2 sets of trekking poles and water
bottles that I normally have slipped into the side pockets or hanging
from loops. It meant that everything was together in one bundle and it
worked really well. Flight to Kathmandu was fine, although I did see 1
poor padded beltstrap ripped from its rucksac going round on a
conveyor belt! When we arrived in Lukla, I could just just remove the
Pro-tector, slip it into a side pocket and start walking! So much
easier than using a big bulky kitbag. Oh the extra wallet I received
was transformed into a mini first aid kit. Strips of pills went in the
card slots, large fabric plaster sheets were in the notes section, and
safety pins were in the zip up coins section! Just a shame I didn't
need to use anything from it!

So thank-you very much! I'll be looking forward to using the
pro-tector again and will definitely recommend your products to my
travelling friends.

Hello Rob,

Have just used the new Pro-tector on my large 100l rucsac - fitted
no problem, gave it good protection when travelling on the planes,
and was able to lock it up with a standard/small padlock. Very
pleased with it, thanks!

I found out about it using a Google search - I think you came up
pretty high on the Google search list when I typed in relevant

Just wanted to write and let you know the Pro-tector did a fabulous job on our trip! We took quite a lot of flights and travelled through Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Ukraine, Russia, Mongolia, China, Cambodia and Vietnam. The rucksack is in the same mint condition as when we bought it back in December, so a big thank you! You have a fantastic product and we are well happy with it.
The only thing we encountered was that your logo, with the orange print down the side, flaked off all the time and got all over our skin and clothes. It did brush off, and was only a minor irritation, but wanted to let you know, In terms of functionality, safety and durability - it scored 100% on all three!

I'm just writing to give you some quick feedback on the bag. I've been busy since returning from my trip so I kept forgetting to reply earlier.
The bag was great. I could see by the scratches in the material that it took some abuse from the luggage handling system but it held up well. As a wilderness hiker weight is always an issue for me so if I had a wish list for a bag like this I'd like it to be as light as possible while still remaining tough enough to take the abuse from baggage handling machinery.

I might be in touch sometime during the winter because I'd like to buy a smaller one to hold a 45 litre rucksack which I use for ski touring.

PS I forgot to tell you, the free wallet you sent me for ordering two rucksack protectors proved very useful on our trip to Switzerland. I anchored it by it's cord to the inside pocket of my jacket for safety. Though quite compact it held all my travel documents, insurance, passport and money. I purchased your smallest rucksac cover in order to convey rucksac and walking poles safely to holiday in Austria.

It worked beautifully. Everything arrived intact including the walking poles strapped in position on the rucksack.

Just a small point for product development. I used the cover as a liner when I was actually backpacking around as you suggest. That worked too but the orange paint/print of the product name flaked off with the friction inside the rucksack and tiny orange flakes got everywhere. There's almost nothing left of the writing on the cover so the promotional value is probably outweighed by the nuisance factor.

I am, however, a very satisfied customer and will recommend this to any of my friends who want to take their rucksacks on the plane.

Thank you for the Wallet just want I wanted, and to be honest couldnt find one as good as yours any where else.

I had one before made by Design GO, with the Belt chain, but they do not market this type any more.

Felt safe where ever I went, money credit and debit cards all attached to me, but easy to use when taken out of the pocket.

Comes in handy also for protecting your pin Nos at ATM or Checkouts from hidden cameras.

Sarah and I have just returned from our epic nine month adventure which took us through Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, New Zealand, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Brazil. Its safe to say that we really put our Rucksack Pro-tector's to the test as they've been to -19 and +50 and taken on every mode of transport going, whether stored in a hold or roped to the roof of a 4x4 in the desert. I can say without a doubt that the Rucksack Pro-tector's did a fantastic job of keeping our bags clean and looking like new. The other members of our team and those we met along the way were very impressed, and judging how dirty their bags got, I think they all wanted one!.
Thanks to your product we were able to relax more knowing that people who may of wanted to explore the contents of our bags, were unable to.
After a month though the company name / website on the side of the bags began to wear off and it wasnt long before it was completely gone. Is there a way of stitching the name on the handle or on the bag without weakening it. We also found as we came towards the end of the trip that the metal rings began to fall apart. However this did not stop the bags from working.

All in all we found your bags extremely useful and we have and will continue to recommend them to anyone else travelling with a rucksack.

Hey Rob,

i bought two Rucksack Pro-Tectors for myself and my girlfriend a few weeks back. we're going travelling for 12 months soon. i bought the middle sized one, the 'backpacker' it's called. my 70+10 rucksack fits in easily when full.

We tried out the Pro-tectors on a recent holiday. they worked perfectly. they're really robust. they will stand up to a fair bit of punishment. we got through the airport no problem with them, both going out and coming back. the rucksacks came out perfectly every time. it takes no time to put the rucksack in or take it out. the beauty of it though is the way it folds down pretty small meaning it can be packed away easily when you don't need it.

we also used the Pro-tector wallet. it's really handy. all your cards and passports will fit in and i used the lanyard to tie the wallet to a loop on the inside of my day pack. it makes it more difficult for some lad to steal it when it's tied onto the bag!!

in summary, go buy a rucksack pro-tector and a wallet!

The goods arrived this morning and seem to be exactly what I require and I am very happy with them.I bought a Go-Lite pack about 7 years ago which is not lockable owing to the roll-top closure and I have been looking around for a lockable holdall or duffle without success for a few years now (for use on buses, trains, planes etc), without success, particularly in the 40-50 litre sizes and also in a light weight and packable form when walking.What you have designed seems to fit the bill perfectly (although untried as yet in the field). I will road test it when I go walking/backpacking in Crete/Karpathos late September.Also the wallet and waist belt seem ideal. Obviously designed by somebody who has travelled and knows the pitfalls.I found your company through the Wasdaleweb internet site. I was at Langdale and Wasdale about 6 weeks ago, camping at both places and had a wonderful time.Also I like the idea of putting something back into Nepal. I was there last November and was on the trail when the Maoists declared their truce with the government and found out after I had already paid the "fine". I enjoyed it very much and the people are fantastic and deserving of all the help they can get. I did not hear one Nepalese person complain or whine in the 3 weeks I was there. Thanks for the very quick delivery of my wallet. Within 5 days it arrived. Design is extremely good and therefore I decided to use it right away and not to wait till my next holidays. As I got it a few days ago it's been in use for only a couple of days but so far beyond expectation. Besides my bankcards, it holds my (paper) driver's licence, paper money, coins and some note paper. If necessary even 2 passports fit easily in it without becoming bulky. Thank you for quick processing of the pro-tectors that I ordered. I brought them into immediate use for covering my very rough and prickly backpack to Iceland and next on a very rough travel to Tajikistan. The “Backpacker” functioned superbly for my needs and did not show any signs of wear. So I took it along to Humla, Nepal’s most remote district. While on an expedition into the remote Limi valley in Humla, all my valuables were packed into the pro-tector wallet that performed extremely well for its little size and simplicity. It is on stand-by for the next rough trip. And the “Backpacker” bag? It took a lot of beating during these months of rough travels, and on the oddest of airlines, but is still with me, intact, and now after a good washing to get the dust of Western Nepal and air transit grease off, ready to go on the next trip. Probably Nepal again – the original home of the pro-tector, wasn’t it? Would be fun to meet up there and talk sports gear.

Hi Rob,Just arrived from an inter-island trip and I am pleased to report that my backpack and the pro-tector survived the flight and bus trip. I regret not having taken a picture of the sack as it appeared on the baggage carousel... The others on the same flight who had backpacks checked in had theirs ending up not really damaged, but dirty. I found a nice little padlock with a short cable, as you suggested. Works perfect. I can even discard the cord.
